FIFA task force is to pay Morocco a second visit next week after expressing concerns over «hotel capacity and stadiums» set by the the Kingdom's bid for the 2026 World Cup, said AFP.
After visiting five cities to evaluate Morocco's ability to meet the needs of such tournament, FIFA experts «noticed some deviations from the initial planned programme», president of Moroccan bid Moulay Hafid Elalamy told the French news agency.
FIFA task force «asked questions about the reliability of accommodation projections... and the plans for the transformation of stadiums», he added.
Stressing that the group expressed admiration for the Moroccan bid, Elalamy stated that «next week, FIFA will send to Morocco experts to talk to us about possible solutions for accommodation and stadiums».
This decision comes as a task force sent by FIFA has arrived Monday, 16th of April, in Morocco to evaluate the country’s ability to host the 2026 World Cup.
For the record, Morocco is the only bidding nation competing against the North American joint bid led by the United States. The Kingdom has already made unsuccessful bids to host the tournament in 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010.
