Salah Abdeslam sentenced to 20 years in prison for terrorism-related attempted murder

Salah Abdeslam, a Belgium-born French national of Moroccan descent accused of involvement in the attacks in Paris on 13th of November 2015, and Tunisian accomplice Sofian Ayari, were found guilty f the attempted murder of police officers in a shootout in Brussels in March 2016, Monday 23rd of April in Brussels, said FranceInfo.

They were both sentenced to 20 years in prison, as requested by the prosecutor’s office in February.

On March the 15th, 2016 Belgian and French police officers were shot by a gun. Four of the officers, who were raiding a supposedly empty house, investigating the 13the of November attacks, were wounded while a 35-year-old Algerian jihadist had been killed.

Abdeslam was arrested on March the 18th 2016 in Molenbeek alongside Sofian Ayari.
