Colombia denies having a Polisario diplomatic representative

In a communiqué published Tuesday evening, 24th of April, the Colombian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced that «the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic has neither diplomatic representation nor ambassador accredited to Colombia».

The announcement came after a person has presented himself as a diplomatic representative of the «Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic» accredited by the Government of Colombia.

The country clarified its position regarding the Western Sahara conflict stressing in the same statement that «Colombia has supported the efforts of the international community for a just, long-lasting and mutually acceptable political solution to the conflict in accordance with the resolutions adopted by the General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council».

Moreover, the Colombian ministry explained that the South American country has frozen its recognition of the «SARD» several years ago.
