Former Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane finally reacted to the viral boycott campaign, targeting three major companies in Morocco. Speaking to Arabic-language daily newspaper Akhbar Al Yaoum, the PJD politician said he was «surprised» that the campaign is including mineral bottled water producer Sidi Ali, and diary company Centrale Laitière while their prices have not been increased.

On the other hand, Benkirane said he «understands» the reasons behind boycotting fuel supplier Afriquia gaz (owned by Fisheries Minister Aziz Akhannouch), stressing that fuel prices have significantly increased.

On the 1st of December 2015, the Benkirane government (second term) launched a project forcing the liberalization of fuel prices. At the time, the Prime Minister promised that his government would install safeguards to monitor fuel prices and detect any abuse.
