Lebanese militia Hezbollah has denied the Moroccan accusations, stressing that it has not been sending weapons to the Polisario.

«It is unfortunate that Morocco, pressured by the USA, Israel and Saudi Arabia, makes false accusations», the Shiite organization said in a statement, stressing that «the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs is to be held responsible for not bringing up arguments to back his country's recent decision».

Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita explained that cutting diplomatic ties with tehran was decided after «Hezbollah provided support for the Polisario Front which targets the security and interests of Morocco».

Morocco said it «has irrefutable proof, names, and specific actions to corroborate the complicity between the Polisario and Hezbollah», proving Hezbollah’s involvement.

This is not the first time that Morocco decides to cut diplomatic ties with Iran. In 2009 Rabat strained relations with tehran, only to restore them at the end of 2014.
