In an official visit to the United States, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari said he was not «sure about the validity» of allegations suggesting that President Donald Trump called some African nations «s***hole countries».
Two days ago, former White House aide Omarosa Manigault told media that President Donald Trump called some African nations «s***hole countries» in a meeting he attended earlier this year. The woman who is also a television actress confirmed that to Buhari in his Twitter.
Relayed by the BBC, Manigault commented on the Nigerian president’s statement, telling him that Donald Trump had indeed used these words. Muhammadu Buhari was questioned about this at a press conference, while Donald Trump still denies the facts.
Last January, the African group at the UN, made up of 54 ambassadors, issued a statement reacting to the «racist remarks of the US president». The US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, expressed her regrets to African officials, but without making an official apology, as required by the statement.
