Rachid Alioui will not join the Atlas Lions for the 2018 World Cup, scheduled for June in Russia. The Moroccan international striker had undergone a surgery on Wednesday and «cannot participate to the World Cup in Russia», says daily newspaper L’Equipe.

The Moroccan footballer «will be absent for several months», according to his club, Nîmes Olympique. The French-born Moroccan football has scored 17 goals with his team during this season.
According to So Foot magazine : Rachid Alioui is «the author of a remarkable season, which largely contributed to the rise of Nîmes Olympique in League 1».
