Yassine Ghallam, a Moroccan national who has been touring Africa since January 2017, has had his bicycle stolen in Jeffrey's Bay, a town located in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, the adventurer told Yabiladi.

On Friday, and after he arrived from Port Elizabeth, Yassine headed to an Islamic center located in the city to pray. «I dropped my bike in a yard next to the Islamic center, I locked it, time for me to put my luggage inside», the globe trotter, also known as Yassine Everest, told Yabiladi on Monday.

«To my surprise, ten minutes were enough for my bike to get stolen… When I returned to retrieve the bicycle I realized that it was not there where I put it», said the 32-year-old man from Casablanca.

The incident did not discourage the young man who narrated his story while laughing and giggling. «I was received by the mayor of the city after my bike was stolen and he apologized to me on behalf of the inhabitants of Jefferys Bay», he proudly explained. «He has even tried to offer me an old bike, that I refused to take after I realized that it was not solid enough for my travels», said Yassine.

Surprisingly, what happened to Yassine has made of him South Africa’s star these days. «A radio station in South Africa has raised money to buy me a ticket for Cape Town where they will offer me a new bike», he happily announced to Yabiladi. «They will fly me back to Jeffrey's Bay in order for me to resume my journey», he added.

Yassine Ghallam started his journey in January 2017; he traveled along Africa visiting countries like Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Guinea and Ghana. He kept hitchhiking until he bought his first bike in Dakar, Senegal. In Nigeria, he was hit by a car and his bike was crushed.

In Cameroon, Yassine bought a second bike he rode through Gabon, Congo, Namibia and Zambia.

After South Africa, Yassine is planning to fly for Madagascar, and then go to Mauritius and climb the Kilimanjaro mount in Tanzania.

«After touring Africa, I will be starting a new adventure but this time in Latin America», he concluded.
