According to retired footballer Fernando Hierro, who currently manages Spain football national team, the Atlas Lions shouldn’t be taken for granted, says Belfast Telegraph on Sunday.

«We know it is going to be a tough match, always when you play against teams who are eliminated you don’t know what they are going to do – it could be a big surprise», said Hierro in a pre-match press conference.

Spain is to face the Moroccan team Monday after a 3-3 draw with Portugal. Morocco on the other hand, lost last Wednesday to Portugal through a Cristiano Ronaldo header and Friday the 15th to Iran.

«Our obligation is to play a good game, to get three points and if we can be at the head of the group -even better», added the Spanish coach ahead of today’s decisive game for La Roja.

«We can’t take anything for granted, we have to use our skills and our qualities and that is what is most important going into the match (…) We know that Morocco are an excellent team, they reached the finals of a World Cup after not being here for many years».

Hierro commented on Morocco’s excellent performance when playing against the Portuguese team, indicating that although the Atlas Lions lost their first match «in the last minute with an own goal and had an excellent game against Portugal – we are talking about a tough nut to crack».

For the record, Morocco is one of the first countries to be eliminated from the international tournament held currently in Russia. In Kaliningrad, the Atlas Lions will play their last World Cup game this year.
