The new Khalladi 120MW wind farm was inaugurated on Friday, 29th of June, in Tangier, reports MAP.
Conducted by Saudi group ACWA Power and located in the region of Tangier along the ridge of the Jbel Sandouq, the Khalladi farm is expected to produce about 370 gigawatts and will mainly supply huge industrial customers.
The farm wind contains 40 turbines installed on 80-meter towers and equipped with three 45-meter blades.
The project is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Clean Technology Fund as well as BMCE Bank of Africa.
«We are honored to contribute to Morocco's sustainable economy and social development through the implementation of an efficient and environmentally friendly energy approach, which offers a significant strengthening of electricity and renewable energy», said ACWA Power Group President and CEO Paddy Padmanathan.
EBRD Director, Head of Power & Energy Utilities, Harry Boyd-Carpenter, described the project as «historical», as it is not based solely on direct government support, but rather on private sectors' investments.
