A 58-year-old Moroccan man cycles from Meknes to Mecca to perform Hajj

Moroccan national Muhammed Rubuhat is performing Hajj this year, cycling thousands of kilometers from Morocco to Mecca, Saudi Arabi.

Speaking to Turkish news agency, Anadolu, the 58-year-old man said that he started his journey on April with the objective of reaching the holy place by the pilgrimage season.

Rubuhat departed from the city of Meknes and spent more than three months, cycling visiting Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Chad. He is currently in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum.

«The cyclist explained that he decided to cycle to Mecca in order to honor the memories of Moroccan and African Muslims and to promote peace between African countries», wrote the Turkish press agency which had the chance to interview the traveler.

The Moroccan man cycles for about 120 kilometers a day. He explained that his last stop would be Suakin, a port city in north-eastern Sudan before arriving in Mecca.

For his next adventure, Rubuhat will be cycling from Morocco to Jerusalem to «raise awareness for the Palestinian conflict», he told the same source.
