Former Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero «has spoken with King Mohamed VI to finalize the official visit of Pedro Sánchez to Morocco», reports Tuesday the Spanish daily newspaper El Mundo.

According to sources close to the matter contacted by the newspaper, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, who was received Monday at the Marshane Palace in Tangier on the throne day, spoke to King Mohammed VI about the official trip of the current Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to Rabat. This official visit should take place during «one of the three central weeks of August», says the same source.

The will visit have to be discussed between Rabat and Madrid. It should, however, be confirmed before the Spanish Prime Minister's South American tour scheduled for August 27th starts. For the record, the new president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez broke with up with the tradition by going to Paris for his first state visit, instead of heading to Morocco like his predecessors.

Moreover, the date of the king of Spain's visit to Morocco has not been revealed yet. The last visit of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia was in 2014.
