23 athletes from Moroccan delegation participating to the African Championships in Athletics in the city of Asaba (Nigeria), went through a real ordeal, reported yesterday the Atlas Lions media, quoting Le Matin.
The Moroccan athletes waited 55 hours after their arrival at the Murtala-Muhammed International Airport in Lagos last Saturday, before taking a flight to the city of Asaba (400 kilometers west of Lagos), according to the same source.
As the African Senior Championships kicks off this Wednesday in Nigeria, members of the Moroccan delegation attending the event would have «waited until Tuesday evening in the lobby of Lagos International Airport before joining the city of Asaba where the championship takes place, more than two days, without food nor a place to rest, and especially without any explanation from the organizers of the championship», reports Lions of the Atlas, describing the situation as «hellish». The same issue happened to many other African delegations competing in the same tournament.
