The agreement reached between Morocco and Spain to promote history, culture and the official languages of the two countries that was signed in 2012, was published in the Spanish official bulletin this Wednesday and will be implemented soon, reports Ok Diario.
«The Strategic Association Agreement for Development and Cultural, Educational and Sports Cooperation», provides a privileged status for the teaching of the Arabic language in Spain.
The Spanish educational system will highlight and disseminate «the Moroccan language, history and civilization». Meanwhile, the Moroccan government must include the Spanish language as an «optional subject for primary and secondary school students in the regions of Morocco where the language is most used».
Furthermore, both sides will have «the ability to supervise the content taught», through the creation of tailored teaching materials. In this regard, an educational assessment is also planned. It will be led by Spanish and Moroccan inspectors, says the same source.
Culturally speaking, Spain and Morocco commit to promote artists from both countries, in particular through participation in festivals and various artistic events. Moroccan and Spanish cinema will benefit equally from this agreements. For this purpose, a support for radio and television channels as a mean of cultural content transmission is planned.
