The Spanish Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday the arrest in Vitoria (north of Spain), in collaboration with the Moroccan authorities, of an alleged member of ISIS terrorist organization for which he was carrying out tasks related to indoctrination and recruitment.

The suspect is a 21-year-old man of Moroccan nationality, said the same source in a statement, adding that he was known for his membership in radical groups with jihadist ideology in Algeciras (South), the city where he lived.

The suspect defended on social networks violent actions by terrorist organizations, including ISIS, the statement said, noting that he used audiovisual content from this organization to incite others to commit attacks.

The investigation revealed that the suspect was in contact with an individual arrested late 2017 in Morocco. He also had contacts with other people on social networks with the aim of perpetrating attacks.

Several house searches were carried out in the cities of Vitoria and Algeciras, as part of this operation.

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior emphasized that the cooperation between Spain and Morocco, combined with the constant vigilance of both countries in the prevention, detection and neutralization of possible terrorists, is mirrored through the operations undertaken to help curb such threats.
