King Mohammed VI received on Monday, 20th of August, at the Royal Palace in Rabat, Mohamed Benchaaboun and appointed him as the Kingdom’s Minister of Finance and Economy.
«According to Article 47 from the Constitution, and following the suggestion of the Prime Minister, King Mohammed VI received Mohamed Benchaaboun», said a communiqué issued by the royal communiqué on the same day.
For the record, Benchaaboun studied at the National School of Telecommunications in Paris, and was heading the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency, before becoming the CEO of Morocco’s biggest banking group BCP.
Benchaaboun is to replace the former Finance and Economy Minister Mohamed Boussaid, who was dismissed, Wednesday 1st of August, by King Mohammed V.
For the record, the King’s decision came as the head of the Court of Audit Driss Jettou and the governor of the central bank Abdellatif Jouahri presented two reports in Al Hoceima during the Throne day festivities.
