In custody since Sunday morning, Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred to stay for 24 additional hours in the Saint-Tropez police station. The pop star was arrested on Saturday night after a woman lodged a complaint against him, claiming that he «raped» her, said the prosecutor’s office in Draguignan (France).

According to the same source, the case requires «further investigation» as the accused and the alleged victim have two completely different accounts, reports AFP on Monday, 27th of August.

The investigation was initiated by the Gassin-Saint-Tropez gendarmerie, where the singer is currently heard, adds the French press agency.

It is not the first time that Lamjarred receives similar accusations. In October 2016, the singer was arrested in Paris for allegedly «raping» and sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman.

Awaiting trial, Saad Lamjarred stayed in prison until April 2017, when he was released by the Paris Court of Appeal on the condition of wearing an electronic bracelet. In March, he was authorized to travel to Morocco to promote his song «Ghazali Ghazali».

For the record, Lamjarred was indicted for rape on April 11 after a French-Moroccan woman claimed that he has beaten her in Casablanca in 2015. He faces the same charges in the United States, following a case that dates back to 2010.
