Moroccan national Mounir al-Motassadeq, who was convicted of terrorism in Germany, will be expelled to Morocco in October, says German online newspaper Bild. But this operation is not an easy one.

The German authorities fear the intervention of the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). They believe that the CIA might prevent the plane transporting al-Motassadeq from reaching Morocco.

Americans want to interrogate the Moroccan man on their soil and on their own. Thanks to his arrest in Germany, al-Motassadeq was able to escape the Guantanamo prison.

To guarantee the security of Mounir, the German services have created a plan, says Bild. They will try to keep it a secret, unrevealing the day when he will be transferred to the Kingdom. However, Bild says that he might be extradited on October the 15th via a charter flight.

For the record, in 1985 the American air forces seized an Egyptian plane that carried members of the Palestinian commando that kidnapped Italian Achille Lauro. They were handed over to the Italian authorities and tried for terrorism.

Al-Motassadeq was convicted in Germany of helping three of the suicide pilots in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.

The inmate was convicted in 2007 of «membership in a terrorist organization and accessory to murder for aiding the three hijackers who lived in Hamburg», says the same source.

After being deported to his country of origin, Mounir al-Motassadeq will have to serve the rest of his sentence in Morocco.
