The United Nations Children's Fund is a United Nations program (UNICEF) has finally reacted to the situation of Moroccan teenager Khadija, who was allegedly raped and tortured by a group of teens in Oulad Ayad.

In a communiqué sent, Wednesday, to Yabiladi the UN agency stressed that «the rights of children involved in the case (suspects, victims and witnesses) must be respected».

For UNICEF, these teenagers are victims of «the lack of protecting measures» set to safeguard children.

The same source indicates that «the case of Khadija is not an isolated one», especially since «several courts in the Kingdom have dealt with 5,980 cases related to violence against children in 2017.

The UN body urged the Kingdom, in the same communiqué, to «implement better practices to protect children», especially those who have been subjected to violence.

For the record, Khadija told media in August that she was «kidnapped, raped and forcibly tattooed» by a group of teenagers in the village where she lives. A first audience is supposed to take place Thursday, 6th of September.
