Phosphate giant Office Cherifien des Phosphates (OCP) and the Ghanaian government have signed in Accra a Memorandum of Understanding. The latter obliges OCP to supply the West African country with phosphate fertilizers.
Initialed by the Ghana Ministry of Food and Agriculture and OCP-Ghana, this Memorandum of Understanding aims at developing Ghana's fertilizer and aggro-ecosystem value chain through a program dubbed fertilizer and launched by the government, said Monday OCP Ghana in a statement.
The agreement will also help the Ghanaian Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the OCP Group work together and provide farmers with tailor-made fertilizers for affordable prices, said the same source.
The Ghanaian ministry and the OCP group will also explore the possibility of establishing a quality fertilizer plant to meet the needs of the country's soil, added the same statement, noting that both parties have undertaken preliminary studies to examine the feasibility of this project.
