17 migrants, sent back to Morocco by Ceuta in August, have been sentenced to two months in prison and fined 500 dirhams by the court of first instance in Tetouan, reported Le360 on Tuesday.

Accused of «illegally entering the enclave, using violence and presenting fake IDs», these 20 migrants were the only ones to have been brought before the Moroccan justice. They are part of a group that climbed the fence, separating Ceuta and Morocco.

Arrested by the Spanish authorities, these migrants were handed over to the Moroccan authorities in a massive expulsion operation conducted on August the 23rd.

The Nador office of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH) denounced the sentences handed over to the migrants, indicating that they were «illegally sent back and jailed».
