Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita held talks, on Tuesday in Washington, with eminent senators Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham and Todd Young, in the presence of Morocco's ambassador to Washington Lalla Joumala Alaoui.
In a statement to MAP, Bourita said that these talks are part of maintaining contacts with influential members of the Senate concerning mainly financial and military cooperation, in addition to the national issue.
The minister, who had met on Monday at the Department of State with Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and at the White House with president Trump's national security advisor John Bolton, said that the meeting with the senators was positive as the one with the US official, adding that his interlocutors at the Senate have an awareness of the current issues as well as of the destabilizing actions led by the Polisario.
There is a strong attachment by the United States, including all its institutions, to preserve this partnership with Morocco that many senators have described as valuable for the United States, and even unique in the region, Bourita said.
