The Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Köhler has invited Morocco and the Polisario to hold talks on the 4th and 5th of December in Geneva, reports APS.

During his visit to the Security Council on August the 8th, Köhler stated that he wants to relaunch the peace process, which has been blocked since March 2012, before the end of the current year.

The UN diplomat seized the opportunity at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly to intensify diplomatic activities while in New York. The former German president met with diplomats from Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria and also members of a Polisario delegation.

In February, Horst Köhler invited the parties involved in the conflict to hold talks in Berlin. At first, the kingdom declined the invitation. Finally, a Moroccan delegation agreed to speak with the German diplomat on March 6 in Lisbon.
