Morocco and the US are the only two countries invited to the EU G6 Summit

Morocco’s Interior minister, Abdelouafi Laftit, is taking part in Lyon in a summit of the Interior Ministers of the EU's 6 biggest countries (France, Germany, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Poland) on terrorism and migration, which kicked off on Monday.

Morocco and the United States are the only two countries invited to this meeting, which also brings together the European Commissioners for Home Affairs and Security, the US Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security and the U.S. Attorney General.

Morocco's presence at this important meeting is a recognition of the role played by the Kingdom in fighting against terrorism and preserving security.

This two-day summit addresses several issues related to security, the fight against terrorism and the management of irregular migration flows.

The talks also focus on security cooperation in the Sahel region, the fight against terrorism via internet and communication techniques.

Participating delegations also attended a large-scale exercise on the management of a terrorist attack that took place in Groupama Stadium, near Lyon.
