Algeria will attend the talks on Western Sahara, convened by the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara Horst Köhler in Geneva, in December. Algiers' confirmation was announced, Tuesday 16th of October, by the country’s permanent representative to the United Nations Sabri Boukadoum, reports APS.

«Algeria, as a neighboring country and an official observer of the peace process, responded immediately and positively to President Köhler's invitation and will attend the talks to be held in Geneva on the 5th and 6th of December», he told the Fourth UN Commission on Political Affairs and Decolonization.

Mauritania, which has not yet officially responded to the invitation of Horst Köhler, has also confirmed its participation, according to the spokesperson of the UN Secretary-General Stéphane Dujarric. «The Polisario, the Moroccan side as well as Algeria and Mauritania have confirmed they will be attending the talks that will be convened by Mr. [Horst] Köhler in Geneva in December», he said Tuesday in a daily press briefing.

For the record, Morocco responded to the invitation of the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General on the 2nd of October.
