Ten Italian nationals and four Moroccan men were arrested on Tuesday, following an anti-mafia operation carried out by the Carabinieri in Milan, Como and Reggio Calabria.
According to Italian newspaper, Il Fatto Qotidiano, this gang is accused of being part of a «criminal and drug trafficking network».
The invesitigation, led by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate in Milan, indicates that the gang is headed by the Barbano-Papalia family and sells cocaine, relying on dealers from the Maghreb region.
The leader of the band, Barbano, was arrested in May 2017 and was sentenced to 16 years in prison on October the 10th.
His father, Francesco Barbaro, is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of officer Antonino Marino, who was in Bovalino, Reggio Calabria province in 1990, and is believed to be linked to the gang, said the same source.
