Sentenced to ten years in prison, Bilal Ahabad lost his mother who died on Tuesday, 23rd of October. The information was reported by the deceased’s husband, then by the Hirak detainees’ relatives and lawyers.

«During the trial, she had already been hospitalized in Casablanca», said Mohamed Aghnaj, lawyer of the Hirak detainees held in the Casablanca local prison. «She was transferred to Germany to be treated but she has been in coma for a while», he added.

The repatriation of the body has not been initiated yet, but the mother of the detainee «will be buried next to her family members», he explained, adding that Bilal Ahabad has asked for permission to leave prison and attend his mothers’ funeral.

For the record, twenty-year-old Bilal Ahabad is the youngest Hirak detainee among the 52 ones tried by the Casablanca Appeal court. On June the 26th, they were handed over prison sentences ranging from one to 20 years in prison for participating to protests in the Rif in 2017.
