The annual report of AMDH highlights the increasing human rights violations in Morocco

Presented Thursday in Rabat, the annual report conducted by the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, one of the biggest human rights non-governmental organizations in the Kingdom, the deteriorating human rights situation in the country.

The 2017 report referred to the social protests that took place in several regions in the country, including the Hirak movement in Al Hoceima. It also addressed the heavy sentences handed down to Hirak figures, ranging from one to 20 years in prison.

The NGO explained that the number of activists and protesters exceeded 1020. Quoted by AFP, the report shows Morocco’s «weak commitments in the fight against torture», in addition to «an upsurge in the violation of people’s rights to protest and create associations».
