Italian manufacturer Enel concludes financial agreements for the Midelt wind farm project

Italian multinational manufacturer and distributor of electricity and gas Enel said on Monday, November the 5th, that it concluded financial agreements to build a 180-MW wind farm in Morocco, reports Renewables Now.

Enel will finish the construction of the park in 24 months, says the same source, adding that this investment amounts to MAD 2.5 billion. The project will be financed by Moroccan electricity and water unitality firm ONEE.

The latter was granted funds by the German Development Bank, the Investment Bank and the European Commission to deliver the project.

According to the same source, ENEL is partnering with Nareva, an energy company in Morocco wholly owned by al Mada and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA. The project is located in Midelt and is part of the «850-MW Projet Eolien Integre complex, awarded through a tender to Enel and Nareva's consortium», says Renewables Now.

The Midelt wind farm is expected to produce energy for 500,000 inhabitants.
