The New Flemish Alliance, a nationalist and conservative political party in Belgium, has refused to sign the Unites Nations Pact on Migration, reports Le Soir quoting Belgian newspapers De Standaard, Het Nieuwsblad and Het Belang van Limburg.

«We will not sign this document», confirmed the spokesperson for the Secretary of State for Asylum, Migration and Administrative Simplification and New Flemish Alliance politician Theo Francken.

In September, the Belgian Prime Minister announced before the UN General Assembly that Belgium would sign the UN Pact on Migration, which will be at the heart of a conference to be hosted by Marrakech on December the 11th, said the same source.

Through this announcement, Belgium joins other countries that said earlier this year that they are not signing the pact, including Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria and The United States.
