The family of Moroccan politician and King Hassan II’s opponent Mehdi Ben Barka has urged the French President Emmanuel Macron and King Mohammed VI to help reveal the circumstance surrounding the man's disappearance in 1965.
«The circumstances surrounding the death of Ben Barka are still unclear and his burial is still unknown», wrote his son Bachir Ben Barka in a letter quoted by Agence France-Presse (AFP). «The current situation is unbearable for my mother and her children», said Ben Barka’s son one day before Emmanuel Macron visits Morocco to inaugurate Morocco’s high-speed rail line, linking Tangier to Casablanca.
«You are the only ones who are able to act on the situation and decide on this case».

«We hope that one day, our efforts will make a difference», said the family’s lawyer Maurice Buttin, who commented on Bachir Ben Barka’s letter. The investigation has been opened since 1975.
