Israel has decided to boycott the signing of the UN pact on migration, scheduled for the 10th and 11th of December in Marrakesh, announced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday.

«I instructed the Foreign Ministry to announce that Israel won’t participate [in the Marrakech gathering] and won’t sign the migration pact», Netanyahu told reporters.

«We have a duty to protect our borders against illegal infiltrators. That’s what we’ve done, and that’s what we will continue to do», he added.

The New Flemish Alliance, a nationalist and conservative political party in Belgium, has refused to sign the Unites Nations Pact on Migration.

Through this announcement, Israel joins other countries that said earlier this year that they are not signing the pact, including Belgium, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria and The United States.
