The Moroccan authorities extradited on Monday, November the 19th, two Saudi nationals wanted by the Saudi National Central Bureau of Interpol, reports online newspaper Sabq, quoting the Saudi news agency.
The two men were handed over to the Saudi authorities over «financial claims», indicated the same source.
«One of the suspects fled to Morocco after a court ordered him to refund a sum of SR99,350,000», wrote the Saudi news agency adding that the «second suspect was convicted of conning people out of a sum of SR1,317,624 though fake contracts».
The Saudi authorities stated, in a communiqué issued Tuesday, that the extradition was part of the «international co-operation with other Interpol member states to combat transborder crime».
This is not the first time that Morocco extradites a Saudi national to Riyadh. In 2015, Saudi Prince Turki bin Bindar was deported by Morocco to Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued on October the 12th by the Moroccan Justice Ministry, Rabat announced that it had extradited the Saudi official «to comply with an Interpol warrant».
However, in a statement sent by email to Yabiladi on November the 5th, the Interpol revealed that its «General Secretariat has not issued a Red Notice or diffusion for this person», referring to bin Bindar.
