A man was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 1,500 euros for exploiting workers, says La Voz de Galicia. Between 2015 and 2016, he exploited a Moroccan employee who worked in his farm, located in the A Pastoriza village (Galicia).
According to the same source, the Moroccan man had an oral work contract. The employer agreed to give him 500 euros a month, as a salary, provide him with a house and get his work permit and other administrative work done.
However, according to the prosecutor, the contract was not respected. The employer did not declare the man and paid him only 150 euros a month. In addition to that, the place where he was staying did not have running water, and the employee was not fed every day.
