Gabonese President Ali Bongo is heading to Morocco to continue his treatment after he was hospitalized in Saudi Arabia because of a stroke, reports Reuters quoting his wife Sylvia Bongo.

In a Facebook post, the Gabonese first lady wrote that her husband is traveling on Wednesday, 28th of November, to Rabat.

«To pursue his convalescence, the president, in concertation with his close family, has decided to accept the proposal of his brother, His Majesty the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI», said Sylvia bongo on Tuesday.

Bongo was transferred to hospital on October the 24th after he suffered a stroke during a conference, said the same source. The country’s top court ruled that Gabon’s vice president will head the cabinet in his absence.

Once in Rabat, the President will have to meet hid advisers to «consult on affairs of state», said his wife.

Last week, Paris-based magazine Jeune Afrique wrote that King Mohammed VI was trying to convince President Bongo into coming to Morocco to continue his recovery.
