Racial discrimination in Morocco to be discussed in December by the UN

The UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance is expected to visit Morocco from the 13th to the 21st of December.

Tendayi Achiume, appointed in September 2017, was invited by Moroccan Prime Minister Saadeddine El Othmani, reports a UN document sent to Yabiladi.

The UN expert will meet officials from the government and members of local NGOs. Once in the Kingdom, Achiume will be visiting Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, Nador, Fez, Agadir, and Zagora.

«During her visit, the Rapporteur will evaluate the existing legal, institutional and political framework set to protect groups and individuals exposed to racial discrimination» in the country, added the same source.
