The United Nations reaffirmed, Thursday, its support for «increased dialogue» between Morocco and Algeria, which would benefit the whole region.

«We have always been very supportive of increased dialogue between Algeria and Morocco, whose relationship is very important to the region», Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, said at his daily press briefing.

On Nov. 7, 2018, Dujarric said that the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, «has always been in favor of an enhanced dialogue between Morocco and Algeria».

In his speech on the occasion of the anniversary of the Green March, the Sovereign said that Morocco stands ready for a direct and frank dialogue with Algeria and proposed the setting up of a joint political mechanism for dialogue and consultation in order to settle the transient differences impeding the development of relations between the two countries.
