The UN personal envoy for Western Sahara Horst Köhler is expected to visit New York in the coming days, said Spokesman for the Secretary-General Stéphane Dujarric in a daily press briefing on Thursday, December the 6th.
At the UN headquarters, Köhler is expected to inform the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres about the details of the «round table» held in Geneva and attended by four delegations from Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania and the Polisario, stressed Stéphane Dujarric.
Köhler’s trip to the United States will be an opportunity for him to meet with officials from the Trump administration, including the National Security Advisor of the United States John Bolton and the United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale. The two officials have been paying close attention to the territorial dispute.
The UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy for Western Sahara is counting on Washington’s support to prepare for a second round table.
