Morocco has not negotiated yet the purchasing of a Russian missile system

There are no ongoing negotiations between Morocco and Russia for the purchasing of S-400 missile system. The information was confirmed by Russia’s ambassador to Rabat, Chofaiev Valerian Vladimirovich who spoke to Sputnik about the deal.

The Russian diplomat’s statement comes as CNBC reported that Morocco is interested in buying the Russian system.  

The diplomat said that the «Kingdom is, indeed, interested» in the Russian air defense system, stressing that the «parties involved are discussing this but there are no current negotiations related to the purchase».

«It is a complicated system and it requires a long procedure», stated the diplomat.

However, purchasing the S-400 missile system is a long and complicated operation. According to Sputnik, the deal might include the deployment of a very sophisticated and expensive device.
