Morocco remains the largest recipient of funding from the French Development Agency (AFD), with a total amount of 2.9 billion euros as of 15 October 2018, said, Thursday in Paris, the Country manager Morocco, Africa Department within AFD, Parcal Collange.

In 2017 alone, AFD allocated 431 million euros for the financing of projects in Morocco, Collange said at a meeting with a delegation of Moroccan journalists, currently on a visit to France.

Cooperation between AFD and Morocco continues to increase thanks to a mutual willingness to move forward in strengthening contact and communication mechanisms in all areas, he noted, stressing that AFD is determined to support and provide technical assistance to the Kingdom to carry out its development projects.

«Our relationship with Morocco is of exceptional importance and the cooperation that unites us is increasing thanks to the mutual trust and expertise of both parties,» he said, commending the economic policy adopted by Morocco in Africa through strong investments in various sectors.

On this occasion, Collange detailed the objectives of AFD's 2017/2021 strategy for Morocco, which aims to promote inclusive and sustainable growth, enhance human capital and contribute to the attractiveness of the territory, social cohesion and the reduction of spatial disparities.

It is also meant to support energy and ecological transitions as well as adaptation to climate change, he underlined.
