Polisario leader Brahim Ghali sent a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, urging him to clear «mines that threaten the lives of Saharwis», reports SPS on Tuesday, December the 18th.

In his letter, Ghali called Guterres to «intervene to accelerate the clearance of these mines, which are a daily threat to the lives of Sahrawis and their properties».

SPS explained that Sahrawis, during the rainy season, move to «lands near the berm», which is «unfortunately accompanied by explosions of mines».

The same source recalled that on Friday, December the 14th, two mines caused the «death of a Sahrawi man and serious injuries to others», quoting Brahim Ghali’s letter.

Ghali did not miss the opportunity to call on the Secretary-General to impose «measures and put pressure on Morocco to clear» the mines.
