Bahia Amrani was elected Friday in Casablanca, as president of the Moroccan Federation of Newspaper Publishers (FMEJ) at its eighth congress. Bahia Amrani was the only candidate who run for this position, succeeding Noureddine Miftah, who headed the federation for three terms.
The new Federation office consists now of Mukhtar Ghzioui, Noureddine Miftah, Mohamed Selhami, Maria Moukrim, Mohamed Haytami, Ahmed Najim, Nabila Fathi, Samir Chaouki, Fatimazahra Wariaghli, Mohamed Ababou, Abdelmounaim Dilami and Youssef Chmirou.
Speaking on this occasion, Bahia Amrani, who is also the director of the newspaper «The Reporter» said that the new office of the FMEJ is called to face several challenges during its mandate including «the crisis» that the sector is going through.
After working with several well-known national and international platforms (BBC, Jeune Afrique, L'Express...) and accumulating a solid experience in the field of journalism, Bahia Amrani, founding member of the FMEJ, decided to create «The Reporter» an independent, general information newspaper that celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.
This congress, held after 16 years of existence of the FMEJ, comes at a time when the national media landscape is undergoing major changes, marked by the establishment of the National Press Council.
