Moroccan celebrities, including radio host Mohamed Boussfiha known as Momo, singer Mohamed Reda and members of rap group Achkayen visited Imlil last week.
The initiative was launched to «deny rumors suggesting that the tourism sector has been negatively affected» after the terror killings that took place in Imlil two weeks ago, the Hit Radio host Momo told Alyaoum 24.
The bodies of the two Scandinavian tourists were found Monday, December the 17th, near Imlil.
«The region looks calm and peaceful and there is no need to worry. The tragedy is now part of the past», said Momo.
The latter, however, was criticized on social media for visiting Imlil. He was told by internet users to «visit Ifrane too where a Moroccan woman was decapitated last week».
For the record, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) organized in July, 2017, a similar trip to AL Hoceima. The initiative aimed at promoting tourism in the city that was shaken by a series of protests, known as the Hirak movement.
In 2011, the same thing was done when Café Argana was bombed by terrorists. The attack killed 17 people.
