Sahara : Nasser Bourita in Cairo to support the next president of the African Union

Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita paid a short visit to Cairo on Tuesday, January 8th, to meet his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Choukri. Four weeks before the next African Union summit, Morocco is relying on the intentions of the strong man in Egypt regarding the Sahara issue.

President Abdelfattah al-Sissi is also a member of the troica created by the African Union at the ordinary summit in Nouakchott in July 2018, and whose mission is to keep up with the developments of the file and report that to the Conference of heads of state.

In addition to that, Al-Sissi will officially take over the presidency of the continental organization at the end of the Addis Ababa conclave on 11 February. He will succeed Rwandan Paul Kagame.
