Moroccan boxer Zakaria Tijarti was named the World Muay Thai Association world champion (under 66 kg) on Saturday in Marrakech after defeating Venezuelan-born Spaniard Mikel Sortino.

Zakaria Tijarti dominated the fight, leaving no chance for his opponent. In five rounds, the Moroccan pugilist almost won by a knockout against Mikel Sortino, the continental champion (Europe - America), who failed to face the Moroccan fighter.

Speaking to reporters by the end of the fight, Zakaria Tijarti thanked the Moroccan public from all regions of Morocco and Europe, who supported him during this decisive fight, noting that he honored the national flag.

For the record, the Moroccan champion has won several titles before, including the European title Enfusion, the title of the Netherlands for 2015, as well as 23 professional fights, including seven victories.

Organized under the auspices of the Royal Moroccan Kick-Boxing Federation, Muay-Thai, Savate and similar sports, the gala evening also saw the organization of four other fights in the same discipline between Moroccan champions.
