OCP, Morocco’s leading exporter of phosphate rock, phosphoric acid and phosphate fertilizers, and Spanish firm Fertinagro announced the creation of a joint venture for the production of enhanced fertilizers, reports Interempresas.

The new company will be named OCP-Fertinagro Advanced Solutions, owned by OCP Group and Fertinagro. It will be located in Jorf Lasfar.

In a communiqué made public by OCP, the two firms stated that the new joint venture will start operating in 2020 and «will have an initial annual capacity of 250,000 tons of specialty NPK fertilizers».

The company also plans to set up «advisory services to farmers, capitalizing on both companies’ deep experiences in the field», the same source said. The creation of this joint venture came a few months after OCP's investment in Fertinagro in October 2018.

«This Joint Venture anchors the ambition of both partners to sustainably address the growing demand in enhanced and 'technology' fertilizers, and to expand their offerings to farmers worldwide, in terms of customized products and services. It is in direct line with OCP’s farmer centricity strategy», said Marouane Ameziane, Executive Vice-President Strategy & Corporate Development at OCP Group.
