In Brussels, a 54-year-old woman received a suspended sentence of three years in prison after she was charged with «assault and battery» on her 19-year-old daughter.
According to the judge, this sentence «should make the mother reconsider her unacceptable behavior». Indeed, the mother assaulted her daughter, Sara, after discovering that she had converted to Islam and married a man without telling her family.
On March 13th, 2016, the mother was invited to the family house of her son in law to ask about the reasons behind this secret marriage. «The day before, the young girl had told her parents that she is moving out to fully live her love affair with Enis, a Muslim man», reports DH Net.
This decision hurt the mother’s feelings, especially as she was opposed to her sudden conversion to Islam.
Once in the young man’s family house, «Sara’s mother took advantage of the fact that she was home alone with her daughter and stabbed her», the same source said.
The young woman got injured in the stomach and the chin. Now, Sara says that she doesn’t want to see her mother anymore.
