Nasser Zefzafi is fine, says Moroccan Human Rights Council amid concerns over his health

The National Human Rights Council (CNDH), an institution for the protection and promotion of human rights in Morocco, announced Thursday that Hirak figure Nasser Zefzafi is fine amid concerns over his health.

The good news was announced after CNDH sent a three-member delegation to the Casablanca local prison to check on Zefzafi’s health. The delegation concluded that Zefzafi’s «health condition should not be anything to worry about», wrote the Council in a communiqué sent Thursday to Yabiladi.

The same delegation, mandated by CNDH president, held meetings with officials from the prison administration. The same communiqué indicated that after examining the Hirak detainee, the delegation took note of his medical record and took a look at what happened on Saturday 26th, 2019.

The delegation compiled a report on the visit, that included a detailed description of Zefzafi’s health. According to CNDH, the inmate was diagnosed by specialist doctors from the Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca.

CNDH promised to publish its report on Zefzafi’s health after the Casablanca Appeal court pronounces its verdict.

For the record, Nasser Zefzafi asked on Saturday (6.30 p.m.) for medical care for a foot pain he felt, said the penitentiary in a statement, adding that when the nurse was getting ready to treat him, the prisoner hurled her equipment and voluntarily hurt himself by hitting his hand against an office, demanding the presence of the director and the physician, and claiming that the health care he received was not enough.
