The mortal remains of the young Moroccan woman who died in a deadly apartment building fire in Paris was repatriated to Morocco on Friday evening, says a consular source.

The repatriation operation, carried out from the Parisian airport of Orly on board a plane of the Moroccan national carrier (RAM), was preceded by a quiet ceremony at the medical-forensic Institute of Paris, in the presence of members of the deceased's family and the consul general of Morocco in the French capital, Mustapha Bouazzaoui.

After arrival at Rabat-Salé airport, the remains were transported to the city of Meknes where the funeral is scheduled for Saturday.

The consulate general of Morocco in Paris had learned on Wednesday from the French authorities that M.I, a 23-year-old Moroccan national, had died in the fire that swept through the eight-storey apartment building, killing at least 10 people and injuring 30 others.
