Wanted in the Canary Islands, a Polisario’s member to attend an event in Gran Canaria

On Thursday, February the 28th, members of the Sahrawi Association on Human Rights Defense (ASADEDH) said they were «surprised» and «annoyed» by an invitation sent to M’Hamed Khaddad, the coordinator with MINURSO.

Quoted by Spanish online newspaper Espiral21, ASADEDH recalled that the Gran Canaria City Council is organizing an event on Friday to which the Polisario member is invited, despite his involvement in an investigation related to crimes against humanity.

In a press release, the NGO wrote that Khaddad «is one of the main culprits accused of violating» human rights in the Tindouf camps.

The NGO claims that it sent a letter to the investigating judge, in charge of the case, informing him that M’Hamed Khaddad is currently in the Canary Islands.
